Surprise B-day Date
Jon did some sneaky planning in order to pull off a surprise early birthday present for me--dinner downtown and tickets to see the Lion King. I had made a simple request a LONG time ago that I would love to go to that show. He hadn't brought it up so I figured he had just forgotten. Boy was I wrong!
Little did I know he had already bought tickets and researched Mpls restaurants to perfect an evening out together. I was clueless when my friends cancelled a get together Saturday morning when Jon instead talked me into driving to Fairmont to meet my sister, Adelyn's babysitter for the night (yes, she went all the way to Sioux Falls yesterday and is still there!). I had earlier argued that Sunday was the better day to make the road trip there, where we would be picking up a new (used) furniture set. Jon had a hockey game Saturday evening, I had a playdate in the morning and I didn't want the trip to be rushed. He and Stacy tricked me into Saturday though once my day was now open (thanks to Jon cancelling the playdate) so off we went. Once there he finally revealed to me that he had snuck an overnight bag for Adelyn into the vehicle and she would be spending the evening with her Auntie Stacy and Uncle Nick. My mom is nannying for the weekend in Fairmont so Stacy will meet her there today and Adelyn will finish the ride home with her. I must say I was SHOCKED! I'll give partial credit to the pregnancy hormones for the happy tears that followed. It was such a fun surprise!
We had an awesome evening. Dinner at Solera was different then anything we have tried before and we felt very trendy and urban. The Lion King was SO neat. Neither of use knew what to expect, only that we had heard such good things. Not being very theater cultured we couldn't imagine quite what it would be like, but it was beautiful. The costumes stunning and the music amazing. New baby seemed to be dancing along to the fun tunes and enjoying the night as well.
Thanks honey for the wonderful surprise. Your efforts are Very much appreciated! And thanks Auntie Stacy for taking good care of our little sweetheart so we could relax and enjoy the evening out. I love you both!
Look closely and you can see the rapidly growing baby bump!
